Two people have been charged after police say a citizen helped foil an attempted vehicle theft Monday in Vaughan.
At about 5 a.m., police were called to a theft in progress in the area of Major Mackenzie Drive West and Barons Street, where the caller saw two people trying to gain access to a vehicle.
When police arrived, the suspects attempted to flee in a vehicle but lost control and ended up in a snowbank. They were arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
Aydean Ranjbari, 30, of Markham, has been charged with attempted theft of a motor vehicle, disguise with intent, possession of a break-in instrument and possession of an automobile master key.
Simon Jolivet, 26, of Quebec, faces the same charges, as well as dangerous operation and flight from police.
