A man narrowly escaped being robbed outside a jewelry store in Vaughan on Monday.
At about 9:15 p.m., police responded to a report of an attempted robbery at a store in the area of Zenway Boulevard and Highway 427. The victim was leaving the store after closing when he saw four people running toward him. He managed to get in his vehicle and lock the doors.
The suspects tried to smash a window of his vehicle with a hammer. At least one of the suspects brandished a firearm, York Regional Police said in a news release. The victim was able to flee and contact police.
No one was injured.
The suspects are described as male, 15 to 20 years old, wearing dark clothing, with their faces covered.
