On October 7, audiences are invited to explore a unique piece of Canadian history with the screening of Happy Woodland Pet Cemetery: Uncovering History. This short documentary, directed and produced by Mountain Goat Film Company in partnership with the Aurora Museum & Archives, uncovers the story behind what is believed to be Canada’s first pet cemetery.

Recipient of a prestigious gold Telly Award, the film delves into the origins of the cemetery and highlights the vital work undertaken by Museum staff and volunteers to restore and catalogue the burial sites of more than 800 named pets. Through this restoration process, these individuals have preserved an important piece of the town's history, shedding light on the deep bond between humans and their animal companions. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session with the filmmakers, providing an opportunity for the audience to gain further insight into the making of the documentary and the history it uncovers.
