Central York Fire Services (CYFS) is excited to invite residents of Aurora and Newmarket to their annual Open House on Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Station 4-5, located at 300 Earl Stewart Drive in Aurora.

This event offers the community a unique opportunity to connect with their local fire department and learn essential fire prevention tips. The Open House is part of the lead-up to Fire Prevention Week, which runs from October 6 to 12, emphasizing the critical importance of having working smoke alarms in every home.

Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including morning coffee and donuts, BBQ hot dogs, the Tim Hortons Express Train, arts and crafts, prizes, games, and interactive fire safety activities. Kids will be thrilled to meet “Sparky the Fire Dog” and participate in live firefighter demonstrations scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

New this year, CYFS introduces the “Dunk Tank for Good.” For just $5, participants can purchase three balls to dunk a firefighter, with all proceeds benefiting the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation, dedicated to preventing carbon monoxide tragedies.

Join CYFS for a day of fun, education, and community spirit. It’s an event the whole family will enjoy!
