On September 28, Aurora Public Library presents a special screening of the NFB documentary film WaaPaKe (Tomorrow), directed by Dr. Jules Arita Koostachin. This deeply personal film addresses the enduring impact of residential schools on Indigenous families and communities, exploring intergenerational trauma and the path towards collective healing and empowerment.

WaaPaKe delves into the silent struggles faced by residential school Survivors and their descendants, highlighting their ongoing journey towards freedom and unity. Through intimate storytelling and powerful visuals, the documentary invites viewers to engage with the complex threads of history and experience a narrative of resilience and hope. Following the screening, the evening will feature a film discussion, providing an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the themes presented and engage in a meaningful dialogue about the film’s impact and significance.
