A Newmarket man is facing 25 counts of break and enter, as well as other charges, following a string of commercial break-ins across York Region.

On Tuesday, police received numerous reports of commercial break-ins that occurred during the early-morning hours in Newmarket and Aurora. The same suspect was responsible for each of the incidents, York Regional Police said in a news release.

Police had been trying to locate the suspect in relation to commercial break-ins that occurred over the past several months. They identified the suspect but said he fled from police “in a dangerous manner” on Oct. 8.

On Tuesday, he was arrested and charged in relation to break-ins dating back as far as June 3.

Jonathan Allan, 44, has been charged with committing break and enter (25 counts), disguise with intent (25 counts), possession of break-in instruments (25 counts), breach of probation, dangerous operation, flight from police, obstructing police, and using an unauthorized plate.
