Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Bureau have recovered the remains of a 30-year-old man from Richmond Hill missing for more than five years and say they are treating the death as a homicide.
Kevin Bonada Rosas, then aged 30, was last seen at his residence on Elmwood Avenue on June 21, 2018. He was reported missing by family on June 26, 2018.
His disappearance was deemed suspicious and the homicide unit assumed control of the investigation in April 2021.
On June 5, 2023, human remains were found buried in the yard of the residence on Elmwood Avenue, York Regional Police said in a news release.
Forensic examination has confirmed the remains to be those of Bonada Rosas, YRP says. The death is being classified as a homicide, police said, but the cause of death is not being released at this time.
Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in the investigation.
