York Catholic District School board has appointed John De Faveri as its new director of education and foundation chair.
De Faveri had been serving as interim director for nearly a year prior to accepting the position, according to Elizabeth Crowe, chair of the board of trustees.
“I want to thank Mr. De Faveri for being interim director for the past 11 months and I know the board of trustees looks forward to continuing to work together with him to implement the multi-year strategic plan and the multi-year financial recovery plan,” she said in a news release.
De Faveri started his career at St. Margaret Mary CES in Woodbridge, and went on to serve as principal and superintendent of education in the York Catholic District School Board, which oversees 50,000 students.
He has also formerly held the position of superintendent of education in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board and has been a director of education at the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board.
“De Faveri has provided great wisdom and leadership as Interim Director of Education,” added Crowe. “And we are confident that he is the right person to ensure the York Catholic District School Board remains the top-performing school board in Ontario.”
