Wolf Advanced Technology is relocating from Whitchurch-Stouffville to Aurora.

Wolf Advanced Technology, “a leading innovator in rugged video modules for the aerospace and defence industries,” is moving to a new facility on Magna Drive in Aurora.

The relocation from Whitchurch-Stouffville is set to happen this fall, with the company now hiring for a number of positions as it expands its production capabilities and accommodates its growing team, according to a news release.

The company will use the space to "continue developing and manufacturing bleeding-edge video modules that meet the demanding requirements of its customers."

“This relocation represents a significant step forward for WOLF,” company president and CEO Craig McLaren said. “This investment in our infrastructure increases our square footage, will foster collaboration among our teams, enhance our ability to attract and retain top talent, and ultimately drive our business growth."

The company has worked with some of the largest companies in technology, including NVIDIA, a leading producer of computer chips and software, and electric vehicle company Tesla.

Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas touted the news as evidence of success in making the town an "incredibly attractive" location to set up business, adding he was told Aurora "presented unique advantages for the company" during his meeting with McLaren.

"I really do think it’s a testament to the work we’ve been doing at the Town to make Aurora an incredibly attractive place for businesses to open up or expand their footprint," he said in a statement. "And what’s particularly exciting is that we continue to attract businesses from so many different sectors, including food and beverage, health sciences, automotive, and defence and aerospace."

The company marked its 25th anniversary this year. It dates back to 1990, when McLaren founded McLaren Industrial Computer Sales, a distributor for embedded board, component, and systems manufacturers.

McLaren would go on to found another company, Wolf Industrial Systems Inc., in April 1999, to provide services such as embedded board distribution, systems integration, PCB design, mechanical design, and product customization, according to the company website.

The companies merged in 2003, rebranding as WOLF Advanced Technology in 2010.
