Markham seafood restaurant charged for food safety violations

York Region Public Health inspectors charged a restaurant in Markham with food safety violations last week.

Happy Fishman Seafood Restaurant at 3636 Steeles Ave. E. was charged Sept. 23 with the food premise not maintained with the food handling room in a sanitary condition and failure to ensure food handlers in food premises washed their hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food, according to a public health inspection report.

The report notes failure to ensure the facility surface was cleaned as necessary, failure to ensure equipment surface was cleaned as necessary, and failure to maintain the premises in a clean and sanitary condition.

Health inspectors educated the food handler on site, proof of public health sign post and a ticket was served. A re-inspection was scheduled to be conducted at a later date. 

At a re-inspection on Sept. 25, health inspectors educated the food handler and proof of public health sign was posted. 

York Region Public Health states the inspection report represents the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time.
