Holiday Heroes campaign raises $350K, gifts, food for those in need

More than 140 families are being sponsored through YRP's community partners at Victim Services of York Region and the York Region Centre for Community Safety, as well as 6,000 families through the Salvation Army

That's a wrap on York Regional Police's 2024 Holiday Heroes toy and food drive to bring a brighter holiday season to those in need across the region.

Running from Nov. 12 to Dec. 13, this year's campaign raised more than $350,000, as well donations of gift cards, new toys, new children’s clothing, non-perishable food items and more.

"Of particular note, David Coriat generously donated $150,000," a campaign news release added.

Now that the collection is complete, it’s time to deliver the items.

York Regional Police volunteer staff gathered to assemble packages for more than 140 families that are being sponsored through the force's community partners at Victim Services of York Region and the York Region Centre for Community Safety.

Additionally more than 6,000 families will be receiving support through the Salvation Army.

For nearly three decades, community members and businesses have supported the Holiday Heroes campaign for infants, children, families, seniors and other community members by providing holiday and winter essentials.
