Community invited to York Region Remembrance Day service in Newmarket

Nov. 11 ceremony, which features military veterans, members of York Regional Police and York Region Paramedic Services ceremonial units, begins at 10:25 a.m. at administrative centre

The community is invited to join the Regional Municipality of York for a Remembrance Day service on Monday, Nov. 11 to honour the lives and sacrifices of Canadian heroes who served and continue to serve our country.

The ceremony, which features military veterans, members of the York Regional Police and York Region Paramedic Services ceremonial units, begins at 10:25 a.m. at the York Region Administrative Centre, Great Hall, 17250 Yonge St., Newmarket. The presentation of wreaths will be conducted in memory of all veterans, soldiers, sailors and airmen

Two minutes of silence will be observed at 11 a.m.

Participants include York Region chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson, York Region chief administrative officer Erin Mahoney, York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween and Crystal Cook, chair, CUPE Local 905 York Region/Long-Term Care Unit and master of ceremonies
