A local company is bringing back its Santa for a Senior program for the third year in a row.
In 2022, Eco Guardian in Newmarket partnered with Katie Gilligan of Timeless Harmony Salon & Spa, who started the program, and expanded it to two area long term care homes. In 2023, Eco Guardian took over the program completely.
“Our mission is to bring holiday cheer to over 100 senior residents by ensuring each one receives a special gift this Christmas season,” said an Eco Guardian spokesperson.
To do this, Eco Guardian reaches out to staff at Eagle Terrace Nursing and Mackenzie Place Long Term Care Homes, requesting a list of seniors’ names and desired gift items for Christmas. These names and corresponding gift ideas are placed in ornaments on the Christmas tree at Eco Guardian, where community members can drop in and pick one, becoming a Santa to a Senior this holiday season.
“To achieve our goal, we need the community’s support to spread the word and help as many residents as possible,” said the spokesperson. “Our campaign kicked off on November 5. We are deeply grateful for the community’s support in past years and look forward to expanding our efforts even further this year.”
Community members can select a name and bring the present, in a gift bag (no wrapping please) back to the Eco Guardian office at 100 Harry Walker Pkwy N., Newmarket, Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
“This year, we are also offering evenings and weekend appointments; simply call Nisha Abrol at 647-588-0009 or Anil Abrol at 647-388-2659 to schedule an appointment, and they will be happy to assist you,” explained the spokesperson.
Please ensure all gifts are dropped off by December 10 to ensure timely delivery of the special Santa surprises.
The spokesperson finished, "We are bringing a smile to our cherished seniors, one gift at a time. Together, we create moments of joy and warmth, helping them rediscover their inner child and making the holidays feel special."
