The Town of Aurora is inviting residents to take part in a survey to help shape the future sustainability of Hillary House, one of Aurora’s most treasured historic landmarks.
Located at 15372 Yonge Street, the Hillary House was built in 1862 and stands as a beautiful example of Gothic Revival architecture. This National Historic Site is currently managed by the Aurora Historical Society (AHS) and serves as a museum. However, the aging building and a shrinking volunteer base have raised concerns about its long-term viability.
The Aurora Historical Society has requested the Town’s support in exploring options to preserve this architectural gem for future generations. While there are no current proposals for physical changes to the property, the AHS and the Town are seeking public feedback to inform potential strategies for the building’s long-term sustainability.
The survey is purely informational, aimed at gathering input on how Hillary House could be used or maintained in the years to come. All options are being considered to ensure the property’s preservation remains a priority.
Residents are encouraged to participate and have their say on the future of this historic site. Take the survey now at: engageaurora.ca/HillaryHouse.
