Looking for a meaningful and educational activity for your child? The Aurora Museum & Archives invites young history enthusiasts (ages 7 and up) to Behind the Scenes on February 24—a unique opportunity to explore the Museum’s hidden collections and uncover powerful stories from the past.

This session takes a deep dive into Standing in the Doorway: Lived Histories & Experiences of the Chinese Community, an eye-opening exhibition that brings history to life. Guided by Museum staff, participants will discover the real struggles and triumphs of Chinese immigrants in York Region and beyond. Through hands-on learning, they’ll gain a deeper appreciation for resilience, diversity, and the power of storytelling.

On display until March 16, 2025, this exhibition marks the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, offering an important look at its lasting impact. Created by the Markham Museum in partnership with the York Region District School Board Museum & Archives, it’s an experience that sparks curiosity and conversation.
