McKenzie Gill, charged in the stabbing death of Newmarket man, Blake Bibby, appeared in Ontario Superior Court of Justice on Aug. 15.

A Toronto woman accused of stabbing a Newmarket man to death will be released from jail after a bail review was approved in court today.

McKenzie Gill is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Blake Bibby, 36, at a multi-unit building on Millard Avenue at Main Street on July 14.

Criminal defence lawyer Sherif Foda presented Superior Court Judge Howard Leibovich with a bail application on behalf of Gill at a Superior Court of Justice hearing today, Aug. 15.

Details of the application cannot be released as a publication ban has been placed on all submissions and evidence presented in the courtroom. A new court date has been scheduled for Sept. 10.

The case of Gill was previously remanded as Foda requested disclosure of notes and evidence relevant to the charge from the Crown.

York Regional Police were called to a building on Millard at about 10:30 p.m. July 14 for a report of an injured person. Bibby was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
