A vehicle reported stolen in York Region was stopped on Highway 401 near Napanee with the use of a tire deflation device by Lennox and Addington County OPP officers on Monday.

Officers located the vehicle reported stolen by York Regional Police as it was driving eastbound on Highway 401 at Marysville Road on April 22, shortly after 7 a.m., according to a Lennox and Addington County OPP detachment news release.

When the vehicle failed to stop for police, officers deployed a tire deflation device, also known as a spike belt, to bring the vehicle to a stop just past the Old Wilton Road overpass, police said. The driver was arrested without incident.

Brandon Farrow-Loiselle, 31, of Ottawa is charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and operation while prohibited, police said.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on a later date.
