Two home invasions reported at same Markham home on same day

It is believed there were different suspects in each incident and investigators are seeking as many as four suspects

Home invasions occurred at the same Markham home twice on Friday.

According to York Regional Police, when officers responded to a report of a home invasion Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. at a residence in the area of Castan Avenue and Sabiston Drive, the victim reported two home invasion had occurred that same day.

At approximately 3 a.m., two suspects forced their way into the victim’s bedroom, sprayed an aerosol irritant at the victim and stole a quantity of items before fleeing, police said.

Later that morning, at 7:40 a.m., two suspects – who are described as shorter in height than the suspects in the first incident – forced their way into the victim’s bedroom, where she was restrained and assaulted. While restrained, a quantity of cash and other items were stolen before the suspects fled in a white sedan.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

It is believed there were different suspects in each incident and investigators are seeking as many as four suspects, police said.

The suspects from the first incident are described as both being approximately five feet 11 inches and wearing masks.

Suspect descriptions for the second incident are both male, Chinese and spoke Mandarin and Fujianese. One wore a blue medical mask, black clothing and was armed with a small hammer, the other also wore a blue medical mask and black clothing.
