A Richmond Hill man is facing weapon and drug charges following an investigation that began in early April.
The York Regional Police High-Risk Offender Unit, which keeps an eye on high-risk offenders to ensure they aren’t in breach of court-imposed orders, began investigating a man who was bound by several court orders, police said in a news release.
On May 24, a search warrant was executed at a Richmond Hill residence. Police seized a “large quantity” of what is believed to be cocaine, as well as a .22-calibre handgun.
Tyrelle Gayle, 28, has been charged with failure to comply with a release order (seven counts), trafficking in a substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, and breach of a prohibition order.
At the time of the arrest, police also charged Garrett Higley, 23, of Aurora, with possession of a controlled substance.
