UPDATE: Woman pedestrian, dog killed in collision in Newmarket neighbourhood

A 67-year-old woman and her pet dog died after being struck by a vehicle in the Stonehaven neighbourhood of Newmarket last night.

The driver, a 50-year-old woman from Newmarket, remained on the scene of the collision in the area of Stonehaven Avenue and Best Circle, which is near Stonehaven Elementary School, on Thursday, Oct. 8, according to York Regional Police.

Officers responding to the call at about 7:40 p.m. found the pedestrian, as well as her dog, without vital signs and they were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
