A 50-year-old Newmarket man wanted on a warrant is facing another charge after an incident in Peterborough late Sunday night.
Officers were called to a residence in the George Street and Parkhill Road area about a disturbance and a possible weapon near midnight Dec. 15, according to a Peterborough Police Service news release.
The emergency response team was called in to search the building, but did not locate a weapon, police said.
However, officers located a man wanted on a warrant for assault with a weapon, assault with a weapon spousal, break and enter and failing to comply with probation.
As a result, the Newmarket man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with obstruct peace officer for failing to provide his proper name to officers, police said.
The accused is being held in custody and is to appear in court today, December 16, 2024.
