Crews from Enbridge Gas and OE Utility Services were called to repair a gas pipeline at Devanjan Circle in Newmarket Sept. 11.

A home in Newmarket was evacuated today after a fencing contractor hit a gasline.

Enbridge crews responded to a call to repair a damaged pipeline at a house on Devanjan Circle at about noon Sept. 11, said Natasha Carr, communications advisor for Enbridge Gas.

“When crews arrived, it was discovered a third-party fencing contractor was working in the area, who did not have locates and hit our pipeline. Enbridge Gas has repaired the damaged pipeline and made the area safe.”

Crews from OE Utility Services responded, as well Cable Control Systems workers and Central York Fire Services.

One side of the road was closed during the repair work, which was completed at about 3:20 p.m.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
