Markham home target of shooting, arson

Several shots were fired at a home on Thursday, then on Sunday, a vehicle at the same address was set on fire

A firearm was discharged and an arson occurred at a residence in Markham early last Thursday.

York Regional Police responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the area of Windfields Road and Beckenridge Drive onThursday, July 18. Video from the area shows a four-door white sedan approaching the home at approximately 3:40 a.m., and a suspect in the rear seat is observed firing several shots before fleeing the area, police said in a news release.

No one was injured.

On Sunday, July 21 at approximately 1:45 a.m., police were called to the same address for a report of a vehicle on fire. Video surveillance showed a grey sport utility vehicle in the area before a suspect approaches a parked vehicle in the driveway on foot and pours a flammable liquid on it before setting a fire.

  • White, four-door sedan with black rims
  • Grey SUV with roof racks

Suspect:

  • Male
  • Wearing a black Adidas hooded sweater with white markings, a black face mask and red gloves

Investigators are seeking any additional video surveillance from the area or anyone who may have captured dashcam video on the roadways at that time. Anyone who has not yet spoken to police is asked to please come forward.

Investigators believe the incident is targeted and the investigation is ongoing.
