Two people were injured in a collision after a vehicle drove the wrong way for several kilometres on Highway 400 early this morning.

OPP responded to a report of the collision near Cookstown at around 3:20 a.m. A vehicle was apparently travelling southbound in the northbound lanes, starting at Mapleview Drive in Barrie and continuing over several kilometres, when it struck another vehicle around Highway 89 near Cookstown. Both drivers were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 51-year-old Toronto man has been charged with impaired and dangerous driving.

The Aurora OPP detachment is still investigating. They’re asking anyone with information on the incident to call 905-841-5777.

“If anyone has dashcam (footage) or witnessed it, we’re always looking for that kind of stuff,” OPP Const. Scott Stratton said. “Always, always.”
