Georgina man arrested for impaired driving in Kawartha Lakes

A Georgina man faces impaired-related charges after a vehicle crashed through a closed gate in the Kawartha Lakes area Friday night.

The Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports that a vehicle had driven through a closed gate on County Road 121 Sept. 27 at 6 p.m., according to a news release.

Officers arrived on scene and found a driver asleep behind the wheel, police said.

Robin Crate, 57, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80plus), police said.

In addition to the charges, the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody and is to appear in court at a later date.
