'Armed and dangerous' man wanted in weapon trafficking investigation

An arrest warrant has been issued for Lucas Justin Afework, who is wanted as part of Project Lookout.

York Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted as part of a weapons investigation.

Lucas Justin Afework, 26, of Toronto, is wanted as part of Project Lookout for weapons trafficking (three counts), unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts) and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

Police have been unable to locate him, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Afework is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is asked to not approach him and to contact police immediately.

Police are urging Afework to “seek legal advice and turn himself in.”

“Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to him may be subject to criminal charges,” police stated in a news release.

Twenty arrests have been made as part of Project Lookout, an investigation into a large-scale gun and drug trafficking network operating in York Region. More information can be found here.
