2 suspects arrested, third sought in York Region break-ins

Police have arrested two people and are looking for a third suspect in connection to residential break-ins across York Region.

On Wednesday, York Regional Police officers saw a vehicle with three suspects inside believed to be involved in the break-ins. They were followed to Peel Region, where police say they committed a break and enter. Officers tried to arrest the suspects, but one was able to flee on foot.

Mauricio Eduardo Santelices Astorga, 32, and Johnathan Josue Molina Garrido, 45, both of no fixed address, have been charged with two counts of break and enter and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Police have released images of the third suspect and are asking the public to help identify him. He is described as white, between five-foot-11 and six feet tall, with a thin build and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing all black clothing and a black baseball cap with a Canadian flag emblem.

Police believe the suspects are responsible for numerous other break-ins across York Region and the Greater Toronto Area. They are targeting homes that back onto open areas like golf courses or ravines in the evening, when residents are not home.
