YORK REGION DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

Students at Jersey Public School and Keswick High School have launched a campaign to raise awareness and address stereotypes around classism.
Following learning and conversations about issues of equity and classism, they made a difference in their school and designed a series of posters that will be distributed to schools in York Region District School Board.
“There’s a lot of stereotypes and a lot of labels and a lot of different words revolving around privilege. We have to strip those stereotypes and look deeper because it’s not always what it looks like,” said Rachel, a student at Keswick H.S.
“I’m most proud of the fact that we are actually getting somewhere and we are actually doing something. I definitely want people to think that we want to stop this. We want to make it better for everyone,” said Paris, a student at Keswick H.S.
