York Region paramedics delivered some holiday joy for the season with a nanny blanket drive for local hospital patients.
York Region Paramedic Services delivered warm blankets tied with a bow to elderly patients at local area hospitals on Christmas Eve. This year, paramedics also donated teddy bears to pediatric patients as well.
“Thanks to everyone who helped bring joy and comfort this holiday season,” York Region Paramedic Services said on social media.
The annual dive was established in 2008 by paramedic Helen Galanais. This year, he passed the reigns to paramedic Emily McGroarty, who organized staff donations of new blankets as well as financial contributions to purchase additional ones.
“Some were even caringly handmade by paramedics, their family and friends,” paramedic services said.
