What’s opened, closed in Newmarket this Labour Day long weekend

Monday, Sept. 2 is Labour Day, a statutory holiday in Ontario. Here's what's open and closed in and around Newmarket, and here's what's going on this weekend.

What's open:

Malls and shopping centres, however some have reduced hours, including Upper Canada Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Vaughan Mills (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and Hillcrest Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Tanger Outlets (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

These Town of Newmarket facilities: Mercedes Benz Water Feature at Riverwalk Commons, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Frank Stronach, Dr. Margaret Arkinstall and Rogers Spray Pads, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m, and Newmarket Outdoor Skatepark, dawn to dusk.

Pharmacies, including Shoppers Drug Mart at Yonge and Savage (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Yonge and Davis (9 a.m. to midnight), and 404 Town Centre (8 a.m. to midnight), and Rexall at Yonge and Clearmeadow (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

The Beer Store at 1100 Davis Dr. (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

Grocery stores, including Dickie's No Frills on Leslie Street (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.), John's No Frills at Yonge and Davis (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Walmart Super Centre on Yonge Street (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Walmary Super Centre on Davis Drive (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Farm Boy (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Royal Canadian Superstore (7 a.m. to 8 a.m.), Food Basics (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) Nature's Emporium (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) Metro on Davis Drive (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Metro on Yonge Street (a.m. to 6 p.m.), Vince’s Market (7 a.m. to 8 p.m.).

Check hours online or by calling ahead before going shopping.

Staples, Best Buy, Marshalls, Winners, Homesense, and Dollarama are open, but most locations close at 6 p.m.

York Region Transit will be running its weekend schedule on Monday (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
