The grants help young people and organizations continue their pursuit of arts

The Town of Newmarket has awarded the 2019 grant for Newmarket Celebrates the Arts to local youth, teens and an organization.

The recipients of the youth category grants of up to $1,000 each are Ramona Malekan and Anne Jewczyk.

The post-secondary education category grants of up to $5,000 were awarded to Gregory Vandikas, Daniel Barak, Micah Klein, Alexis Bateman and Charissa Lansing.

In the projects and events category, up to $5,000, the recipient is Visual and Performing Arts Newmarket (VPAN), which is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that promotes professional musical performances and exhibitions of fine art in northern York Region.

As part of the Town's 10-year cultural plan, a range of disciplines including visual arts, performing arts, music, film and literary works are supported through the grants program.

Submissions for 2020 grants are open now until May 4, 2020 at newmarket.ca/celebratesthearts for all Newmarket residents, or those involved in Newmarket-based events.
