A retirement home in Richmond Hill and Vaughan bakery were charged with public health infractions last week.

Delmanor Elgin Mills in Richmond Hill was charged by York Region Public Health inspectors with maintaining potentially hazardous foods at an internal temperature between 4 and 60 C.

According to an inspection report, Delmanor Elgin Mills faced several issues corrected during the inspection, including holding foods at incorrect temperatures, protecting food from potential contaminants and failing to ensure surfaces were sanitized as necessary. During a Dec. 12 inspection, educators did food handler education, mandatory food handler certification, served a ticket and posted a proof of public health sign.

Arun Bakery Takeout and Catering in Vaughan was charged with failing to ensure equipment was sanitized as necessary.

Arun Bakery was not in compliance with having equipment and non-food contact surfaces maintained and accessible for cleaning during a Dec. 11 compliance inspection. As a result, food handler education was conducted on site along with a ticket served and a proof of public health sign posted.

The public health unit states that the inspection report represents the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time.
