Police continue to probe collision that claimed life of Newmarket woman

The victims' names in a north Brampton collision not being released for privacy reasons, Peel Regional Police said. The suspect who fled on foot is still at large.

Investigators from the Peel Regional Police criminal investigation and major collision bureaus continue to search for a male driver involved in a fatal two-vehicle collision late Saturday night in north Brampton.

At about 2 a.m. Sunday, Peel police received a call about a crash near the intersection of Castlemore Road and Hwy. 50. A 31-year-old Newmarket woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 31-year-old male driver, also of Newmarket, was transported to a Toronto hospital with critical but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle left the scene on foot, as both vehicles suffered damage, Peel Const. Danny Marttini said.

Peel police are not releasing the name of the deceased woman or the injured driver in this case to give the families privacy.
