Georgina is kicking off the new year with the opening of its snowboarding, skiing and tubing hill, the ROC, as well as the mayor and council levee, cardboard toboggan races and SnoFest.
The ROC is open
Complete with a carpet lift and snowmaking capabilities, this four-lane snow tube hill offers thrills for all ages for $25, plus HST, for an all-access ticket for two hours (tubing and lift). Test your skiing or snowboarding skills on the ramps, rails, bumps and jumps in the terrain park or sign up for a lesson with the snow school. Check out the rental shop for all your equipment needs. Vintage Christmas — lights continue until Jan. 6
Visit Georgina Pioneer Village from 5 to 10 p.m. until Jan. 6 and stroll through enchanting holiday lights, with charming photo opportunities, a snowman scavenger hunt and holiday programs.
Mayor and Council New Year’s Levee
Come out for some fun winter activities to start the new year off right with the Mayor and Council New Year’s Levee at the ROC on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 8 to 10 a.m. Enjoy a free breakfast (while supplies last) served by the mayor and members of council. Have fun with free tubing, skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing during this two-hour period. Bring your own equipment for skiing and snowboarding or rent equipment from the ROC rental shop. Helmets are mandatory for skiing and snowboarding and recommended for tubing and tobogganing.
Cardboard toboggan races
Georgina’s annual cardboard toboggan races at the ROC are back. Spend the day with friends and family on the toboggan hill. Use your imagination and build the ultimate toboggan out of cardboard, then register and race it. Registration form and more available at georgina.ca/CardboardRace.
Pefferlaw Ice Pad is open
The Pefferlaw Ice Pad is an unsupervised ice pad; use at your own risk. Before you visit, be sure to review the rules of etiquette of play and follow the daily schedule. Visit georgina.ca/skating for more information and the schedule.
Winter recreation registered and drop-in programs
Whether you are looking for a multi-week commitment or the flexibility to work around your schedule, check out all the programs and lessons available for the winter session of recreation, fitness and aquatic fun, including PA day camps on Jan. 17 and Jan. 31. SnoFest
Come out for a day of winter fun at SnoFest at the ROC Saturday, Feb. 1 from 1 to 6 p.m. This annual event features activities for all ages and includes games, food, live entertainment, and an igloo dance party. Don’t miss out on the fireworks display at 6 p.m. Regular tube/lift and chalet prices apply.
