The Town of Newmarket is inviting you to enjoy ghosts and ghouls as Halloween approaches.

The municipality is now taking reservations for its popular annual ghost tours downtown and at the Old Town Hall, running every Wednesday in October. The annual tour will give you the chance to hear ghost stories of downtown and experience a live paranormal investigation.

“Join us as we tour downtown Newmarket and unleash the stories of the past,” the municipality said on its website.

The annual tours feature a guided walk on Main Street, where you will learn about the suspicious events and anecdotes that have haunted the area since the 1880s. After that, you'll go to the Old Town Hall to learn more about paranormal activities and experience a live investigation hosted by the Georgina Paranormal Society.

Time slots are available from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m. and are filling quickly. Registration is available to Newmarket residents only. You can register through the municipal booking website.

The municipality is also gearing up for its annual Haunted Halloween Trail event. Set for Oct. 24, 25 and 26 on the Dave Kerwin Trail at Environmental Park, the free event features actors, lighting and sound effects guaranteed to give you a fright.

“We invite you to join us…if you dare,” the municipality said on its website.

Registration for the trail event is not required, with it being first come, first served. The event will run each day from 7 to 10 p.m., with attendees advised to arrive early for the lineup due to the event's popularity. You are asked not to wear costumes or Halloween makeup to the event. Donations to the Newmarket Food Pantry are welcomed.

More information on the trail is available on the municipal website.
