The Town of Georgina has been selected as one of four host communities for the 2025 Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) regional professional development events.

Each year, EDCO opens a call for regional community hosts, and along with Georgina, the 2025 regional events will be held in Sudbury, Rideau Lakes and Brantford.

“We welcome EDCO and its members to Georgina in 2025,” said Mayor Margaret Quirk in a news release. “This event will allow us to highlight our economic development achievements and provide an opportunity to collaborate with professionals who are making a real impact in their communities. Corporate events like these bring significant benefits to our local businesses and showcase Georgina as a thriving hub for future investment and opportunity.”

This full-day event (date and location to be determined) will bring together 50 to 70 economic development professionals from both the public and private sectors, offering a regional focus on current issues, trends and initiatives shaping the future of economic development in Ontario.

The town stated it is honoured to be part of EDCO’s mission to strengthen member capacity, advance the profession and support municipalities in fostering economic prosperity across the province.

Economic development plays a pivotal role in the community’s growth and success, supporting job creation, investment attraction and overall quality of life for residents.
