Don't forget to turn your clocks back this weekend

This weekend, it's time to fall back.

Daylight time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, which means you should turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night.

The good news? Extra weekend snoozin' (and an extra hour or so of daylight in the coming mornings).

The bad news? The start of darker winter afternoons.

Daylight time may soon be a thing of the past. The Ontario government has stated it supports a private member's bill that would put an end to the practice.

MPP for Ottawa West - Nepean Jeremy Roberts has tabled Bill 214, the Time Amendment Act, which would end the bi-annual practice of changing clocks across the province. The bill has already passed a second reading in the legislature. A date for the third reading of the bill has not yet been released.

It's also recommended at this time of year that homeowners check their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and change the batteries accordingly.

Enjoy the extra hour of sleep, but don't forget to mark your calendars — clocks are scheduled to spring forward one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2021.
