Diana Beresford-Kroeger is an award-winning climate visionary whose eight books have been heralded for bringing greater understanding to our spiritual connection to trees, the vital benefits of plants and forests and why it’s imperative we preserve old forests at all costs.

Renowned botanist and biomedical scientist Diana Beresford-Kroeger is the featured author at a Sept. 12 event at the East Gwillimbury Civic Centre.

Beresford-Kroeger "is an award-winning climate visionary whose eight books have been heralded for bringing greater understanding to our spiritual connection to trees, the vital benefits of plants and forests and why it’s imperative we preserve old forests at all costs," according to a Friends of the East Gwillimbury Library news release.

"Diana believes we can still make a difference to reduce climate change and ensure a future for our children and grandchildren."

Guest moderator Scott Lister, program manager, green infrastructure for the Regional Municipality of York will provide a local perspective, as the York Regional Forests mark their 100th anniversary this fall.

Tickets are $20 general admission and $15 for Friends of the Library members, and include the author’s presentation, book signing and refreshments Thursday, Sept. 12 at the East Gwillimbury Civic Centre, 19000 Leslie St., Sharon. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. start. Seating is limited, and seats are not reserved.
