VIDEO: Suspects sought in arson at Markham bank

Bank sustained severe damage in Dec. 22 incident

Police are looking for suspects after a fire was set last month at a Markham bank.

On Dec. 22 at 11:18 p.m., police responded to the bank in the area of Yonge Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard. The vestibule area was on fire and smoke was coming from the roof. The fire was extinguished, and there were no injuries, but later that night, the fire reignited and was again extinguished.

The building sustained severe damage, York Regional Police said in a news release.

Video surveillance shows four suspects, all wearing dark clothing, being dropped off by a dark-coloured SUV and entering the vestibule. At 11:08 p.m., three suspects fled southbound and a fourth fled northbound from the bank before the fire started.
