A 68-year-old Vaughan man has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of a 64-year-old woman in Vaughan early this morning.
York Regional Police have released the identity of the victim, Estella Wheeler of Vaughan, who was discovered seriously injured in a house on Isa Court, near Highway 27 and Langstaff Road, when police responded to a call at about 12:30 a.m. March 6.
"Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene," York Regional Police said in a news release.
Trevor Wheeler was taken into custody at the scene and was later charged, police said.
The victim's relationship to the accused, or cause of the injuries, was not confirmed. Police initially said she had suffered stab wounds.
