A Vaughan man and woman are facing charges after an alarm jammer was dropped by suspects leaving a store in Guelph with thousands of dollars of products in their backpacks.
Just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to a business on Woodlawn Road West where a loss prevention officer had observed a man and woman placing medication, fragrances and toiletries into backpacks stolen from the store. While attempting to leave the business, the male dropped a jammer device used to prevent anti-theft alarms from sounding.
Officers arrested both suspects, recovering more than $3,200 in stolen property.
Further investigation revealed a similar theft had occurred at the same store in March during which nearly $4,400 worth of items were stolen.
A 25-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, both from Maple, are charge with two counts each of theft under $5,000.
