2 men, woman charged following robbery at Vaughan electronics store

Police say $40,000 worth of stolen electronics has been recovered, and a firearm seized

Police have charged three people and recovered $40,000 worth of stolen electronics following a break-in at a Vaughan business earlier this month.

York Regional Police responded to a break and enter at an electronics store in a plaza at Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive on April 5. Surveillance video showed two men exiting a vehicle that arrived at the business at 3:15 a.m.

The suspects caused “significant damage” to the entrance in an attempt to gain entry and they took off with “a large quantity” of electronics, police said in a news release.

The investigation led police to a storage unit in the area of Caledonia Road and Bridgeland Avenue in Toronto that was being used to store the stolen items.

On April 8, two men were arrested after accessing the storage unit, police said. A loaded firearm was located on a suspect.

Six search warrants were executed, resulting in the seizure of laptops, cellphones and tablets.

A female suspect was also identified during the investigation.

Delcio Salvador Mota, 21, of Oshawa, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, weapons dangerous, storing firearms carelessly, carrying concealed weapons, possession of a firearm without holding a licence, possession of a restricted firearm knowingly while not holding a licence, possession of a restricted weapon or prohibited device knowing no authority, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of a break-in instrument, and two counts each of theft over $5,000, break and enter, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and mischief over $5,000.

Roberto-Angelo Staicu, 22, of Mississauga, has been charged with theft over $5,000, break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and mischief over $5,000.

Daniela Hernandez Tobon, 21, of Toronto, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
