Suspect identified in stabbing at Vaughan weekend wedding

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking public assistance to locate a suspect wanted following a stabbing in the City of Vaughan.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, shortly after 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a banquet hall on Jane Street, north of Highway 7, for a weapons call.

When officers arrived on scene, they learned that a wedding was being held at the location and a male suspect had stabbed a victim who was a guest at the wedding.

The victim, a 34-year-old man from Toronto, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injures. The suspect has been identified and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is urged to obtain legal counsel and turn himself in.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to call police immediately.

Anyone who aids or assists this suspect in escaping or evading police may be subject to a criminal charge of Accessory After the Fact.

Charges:

  • Aggravated Assault
