York Regional Police is looking for the following suspect following a grocery store robbery in Markham on Feb. 21.

A man fled with cash after threatening an employee with a knife at a grocery store in Markham last month.

On Feb. 21 at approximately 7 p.m., police responded to a robbery at a grocery store in the area of McCowan Road and Bur Oak Avenue, a York Regional Police news release said.

A caller told police a man was talking with an employee at the checkout when he pointed a knife and took a quantity of cash from the register. 

The suspect fled on foot through the plaza parking lot, toward Emery Hill Boulevard. 

The suspect is a male, between the ages of 40 and 50, with a tan complexion and a Middle Eastern accent. 

He was wearing a black jacket, black baseball hat, dark-coloured mask and a thick gold bracelet/watch.
