Resident woken up, assaulted by 2 men in Georgina home invasion

Two suspects assaulted a person who was woken up in their bedroom during a home invasion in Georgina early Sunday.

On Sunday, June 2 at 5:38 a.m., police were called to a home at Smockum Boulevard and Highway 48 for the report of a home invasion. Officers learned two men  broke into the residence while the victim was sleeping, according to a news release.

The suspects assaulted the victim while demanding money, police said. They took some valuables and fled the scene.

The victim was treated by York Region Paramedic Services for minor injuries.

The suspects are described as males, mid-20s, wearing black tracksuits, black gloves with their faces covered. The suspects fled the scene in a white, four-door sedan.
