York Regional Police's hold-up unit has released images of a suspect in the daytime home invasion in Aurora on March 6.
Police were called at about 11:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, to a residence in the area of Murray Drive and Kennedy Street with reports of a home invasion.
The female victim answered the door after someone was heard knocking aggressively. The male suspect forced his way in and attempted to restrain her, according to a police news release. A second victim, who was also at the residence, attempted to intervene and was violently assaulted.
The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction on foot, without making any demands for valuables or stealing anything.
Both victims were left with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries following the incident.
Police investigators obtained security images of the suspect, who they believe is "possibly associated to an attempted break and enter that occurred in February."
Police have released three images in all, two of the potential suspect in the March incident, and another taken of a suspect in a separate incident on Feb. 10, in which a lone suspect attempted to break into a residence in the area of Murray Drive and Kennedy Street.
In this incident, the suspect was unsuccessful and fled the area.
"York Regional Police would like to warn the community to always verify who is at your door before opening it," police added. "This can be done by looking through a window that is not visible from outside the door, for example, a second floor or living room window. If possible, use security cameras or peepholes to verify who is at the door before opening it.
"If you feel unsafe, trust your instincts and call 911 right away," they added.
