Police charge 20 in organized crime break-and-enters across region

235 charges laid in 47 break-ins, with more than $2 million of valuables recovered, York Regional Police say

Police have charged 20 people as part of an investigation into residential break-ins across York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

Project Dusk targeted break-and-enters committed by organized crime groups.

Between October and January, police dismantled six crime groups responsible for break-and-enters. They have laid 235 charges in relation to 47 break-ins. More than $2 million of valuables was recovered, a York Regional Police news release stated.

Many items have been returned to their owners, but police are looking for the owners of other goods that were stolen.

Anyone who was a victim of a residential break-and-enter between September and January is asked to look at the photos of the items and come forward if any of them are theirs.
