A woman managed to escape without life-threatening injuries after her vehicle was mangled in the middle of two other vehicles last Monday

A 38-year-old man from Newmarket has been charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm following a collision that completely destroyed a vehicle on Highway 400 in Vaughan last Monday.

The man was confirmed to be the driver of the commercial vehicle involved in the collision on Jan. 20 on Highway 400 at Highway 7, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 13 at Newmarket Superior Court of Justice Criminal Court on 50 Eagle St, according to a OPP Highway Safety Division X post.

The three-vehicle collision resulted when a commercial vehicle rear-ended a vehicle ahead of it, pushing it forward to sandwich it between a pickup truck that was hauling salt.

A woman driver was airlifted to hospital following the collision that completely mangled her vehicle, and managed to escape with non life-threatening injuries.

The collision caused southbound Highway 400 express lanes to close for several hours for the investigation before reopening. No other injuries were reported.
