Driver escapes without serious injury from mangled vehicle in Hwy. 400 crash

Vehicle was rear-ended by a tow truck before hitting a pickup truck hauling salt on Highway 400 in Vaughan this morning, OPP say

A woman was airlifted to hospital following a three-vehicle collision that sandwiched her vehicle between two trucks on southbound Highway 400 in Vaughan this morning.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of OPP Highway Safety Division said the driver's injuries in the three-vehicle collision on the 400 at Highway 7 at 10:22 a.m. have been confirmed as non-life threatening.

Her vehicle was rear-ended by a tow truck when traffic slowed, and then hit a pickup truck that was hauling salt, he said in a video posted on X.

Southbound Highway 400 express lanes remained closed for several hours for the investigation before reopening.

No other injuries were reported.

Northbound lanes and southbound collector lanes remained open.
