A Newmarket resident is facing a stunt driving charge after being stopped by Ontario Provincial Police on Highway 69, south of Sudbury, on Boxing Day.
The vehicle driven by the 32-year-old was clocked at 163 km/h in a 110 km/h zone, according to Nipissing West OPP.
The driver is charged with stunt driving and speeding and faces a 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment, police said.
Court-imposed penalties for stunt driving can include a fine of up to $10,000, a driver’s licence suspension of up to three years and/or up to six months in jail. In Ontario, drivers face a minimum first-time fine for stunt driving of $2,000 upon conviction.
